A Romanian man must be five years in prison for his contribution to various phishing attacks. The 28-year-old Cornel Ionut Tonita known last week to debt collecting e-mail addresses, which he later sent to others. The prosecutor knew that Tonita the addresses for these persons would use different phishing attacks. The collection of the e-mail addresses, mostly from American universities, took place between February and April 2005. On March 19 of that year he sent a henchman to a file with about 10,000 e-mail addresses.
In 2007 the Romanian indicted, but that was only last year, after an Interpol arrest warrant, arrested in Croatia. On September 4 he was extradited to the United States. The court will rule on April 5, Tonita is a maximum imprisonment of 5 years over the head.
