The Chernihiv regional police Department received a series of reports from citizens that they suffered as a result of fraudulent actions when trying to buy "pumped" accounts for computer games.
In all these cases, the victims agreed to the seller's mandatory condition of pre-payment of the full cost of the game account. Customers transferred money to a stranger's bank card, but within a certain period of time they did not get access to the virtual "product" promised by the fraudster, and the seller blocked them after receiving payment.
The police conducted a series of search activities on the above facts and identified the identity of an unscrupulous "seller", who turned out to be a 26-year-old Chernihiv resident.
The police found out that the " businessman "created ads on the popular platform of free ads, where he posted information about the sale of accounts with game characters" pumped " to a high level in the game, which are tailored to the individual requirements of each buyer. In fact, such accounts did not exist. The fraudster, as soon as he received payment from customers, blocked them and stopped responding to their requests.
The police managed to find out that in this way the attacker managed to deceive at least nine Ukrainians from different regions. Each buyer transferred from 2000 to 35000 hryvnias to the attacker's card.
According to the police, the list of victims is not final and may increase significantly during the pre-trial investigation.
The defendant was informed of suspicion on 9 facts of committing crimes under part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud).
The pre-trial investigation in this case continues.
