Employees of the GUUR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia together with colleagues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Sakhalin region in the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic stopped the criminal activity of a 21-year-old resident of Luhansk, who is suspected of remote theft of funds from bank accounts of citizens.

The police found that the man became a member of a certain criminal project, the purpose of which was to steal other people's money. In one of the messengers, he passed a special "training", after which, under the guidance of accomplices, he began to search for potential victims.

He found ads on the Internet, mostly residents of Sakhalin, for the sale of various properties. Then, posing as a buyer, he negotiated with the seller about the purchase, while convincing him to send the goods to the transport company.

If the person agreed, the attacker informed them that they had already issued and paid for the delivery. However, in order for the money to be credited to the carrier's account, the seller had to enter his bank card details on the transport company's website to allegedly confirm the transfer.

Then the resident of Luhansk sent the victims links to fake websites that were provided to him by curators from the project. When misled citizens entered their card details, a certain amount was debited from their account.

In some cases, the detainee deceived the same citizens twice. He informed them that the transport company had mistakenly debited money from them, and in order to return it, he asked them to re-enter their card details. After that, finances disappeared from the victims ' accounts again.

Operatives have established the involvement of a man in the commission of 29 crimes against residents of the Sakhalin Region in the period from November 2021 to December 2022. The amount of damage amounted to 425 thousand rubles.

According to the police, the attacker sent part of the stolen funds to his accomplices, and spent the rest on his own needs.

Currently, a resident of Luhansk is charged with committing crimes under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A preventive measure in the form of recognizance not to leave and proper behavior was chosen against him.
