Today, in the production of plastic cards, a huge variety of all kinds of materials are used, which can amaze any imagination with their technical characteristics and their characteristic indicators.

For example, you can take a closer look at such an element of plastic card production as thermally conductive metal plates (also called mirrors), which are used for sintering laminated cards. Depending on what surface of the plastic card is needed, the mirrors can be glossy or matte.

As for the format of the plates, it directly depends on a device such as a press laminator, but the most common formats include A3 and A2 (if plastic cards are printed using offset printing), and A4 and 20x25 formats (if The card is printed using a digital printing method).

Lamination plates are metal products with a mirror surface. Plastic sheets are placed between them, and the sintering process is carried out in a special press laminator at high temperature.

Types of plates

  • mirror plates - used for the production of plastic cards of exclusively the highest quality. The surface of such plates is usually polished to a mirror finish, which gives the finished product an extremely stylish appearance;
  • glossy plates - used to produce practical cards. On such plates, the shine is slightly muted, so scratches that occur during use of a plastic card are practically invisible;
  • matte plates - used to produce slightly rough plastic cards. Such cards are more durable than others, since possible defects on them are hardly noticeable, and as for lamination, it is much easier to laminate a rough surface;
  • ultra-matte plates - these products differ from others in that they have a very fine relief. If a plastic card is made using ultra-matte plates, then a magnetic stripe can be applied to it using a sublimation printer and then encoded.
  • textured plates - this type of plate can be easily distinguished from other similar products by the presence of embossed reliefs on the surface of the plastic card.
