In the suburbs of Chicago (Illinois), the victim of fraudsters was 85-year-old clergyman Robert Banzin (Robert Banzin). According to local media, he fell for the bait because of the phishing site PayPal.

It all started with an email that the reverend received, he believes, from PayPal. At the same time, the priest could not clearly explain its content to journalists, but he recalled that eBay was mentioned there. Banzin concluded that the payment system was trying to warn him about some kind of fraud and just Googled their website.

However, as it turned out, the search results started with ads for a phishing site that displayed fraudulent support numbers. On the other end of the line, Banzin was confirmed with all his concerns and recommended to contact the investigators, which the phishing PayPal itself provided.

As a result, the priest was taken into circulation and over the next few weeks, the "investigators" gained the confidence of the elderly American. As a result, they convinced him to transfer all his savings to a "safe account", which he did, losing 61 thousand dollars. After that, the scammers, of course, disappeared.
