Sberbank records billions of lines of information in the public domain.

At the SOC forum, Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, said that the personal data of about 90% of the adult population of Russia is already in the public domain. According to him, the situation has long looked deplorable: according to estimates, the network contains about 3.5 billion rows of citizens' data. "Already about 90% of the adult population, unfortunately, in one part or another, have some personal data in the public domain," he said.

An analysis conducted by Sberbank at the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 showed that the main sources of leaks were online stores and medical institutions. Kuznetsov stressed that, contrary to popular belief, credit institutions account for no more than 2% of all leaks. He also noted that 2023 was the peak year in terms of the number of leaks, but in 2024 the situation has improved somewhat, although the problem remains relevant.

Kuznetsov also spoke about a record number of fraudulent calls aimed at Russian citizens in 2024. In February-March, their number reached a peak of about 20 million per day. Now this number has decreased to 6-6.5 million calls, but deception schemes have become more thoughtful and professional.

According to Sberbank estimates, in 2024, thefts of funds from Russian citizens may reach the amount of 250 billion rubles. In the context of a cyber war, the total damage to the Russian economy from all cyber attacks in 2023 and 2024 could amount to about one trillion rubles by the end of the year, if the situation does not change.
