A 23-year-old resident of Berezovka was engaged in illegal activities. Investigators sent materials against the offender to court. For what he did, he faces up to five years in prison.
The illegal actions of the attacker were exposed and documented by the operatives of the cyber police of the Odessa region together with investigators of the Investigation Department of the GDNP in the Odessa region under the procedural guidance of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Cyber police found that the young man, acting with persons currently unidentified by the investigation, the materials against whom were allocated in a separate proceeding, in the groups of one of the mobile applications, sold personal data of citizens, in particular, surnames, names, patronymics, mobile phone numbers of customers of one of the private enterprises.
The attacker posted his own on several bulletin boards of one of the mobile applications - about the sale of databases of personal data of Ukrainian citizens at a bargain price.
Soon there was a client for the purchase of the database, who in correspondence with the seller wished to carry out a trial transaction. At the request of the attacker, he transferred the agreed amount of money to his bank card, in return he sent him personal data about 50 persons.
Law enforcement officers conducted an authorized search at the place of residence of the businessman, during which they seized a laptop with personal data of 100 thousand citizens, a mobile phone with information confirming his illegal activities, and other material evidence.
According to the investigator in the case, Alexander Kozhukhov, such information could be of interest to persons who are engaged in fraud, business promotion, and the like. The defendant was charged with the unauthorized sale of information with limited access, which is stored in electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or carriers of such information, created and protected in accordance with the current legislation, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons.
The court chose a preventive measure for the offender in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 60,560, which he used.
The pre-trial investigation of the case has been completed and the indictment has been sent to court.
