The Novgorodsky District Court found Elena Ermolaeva guilty under Part 3 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – "Illegal access to legally protected computer information, using her official position."
According to the Joint Press Service of the courts of the Novgorod Region, it was established that Ermolaeva, as a specialist in the sales office of one of the cellular communication companies that had access to legally protected information about personal data of subscribers, was contacted through a social network by an unidentified person with a request to provide him with confidential information regarding a specific person.
Ermolaeva agreed. After that, while at her workplace, using the "Single Window" system installed on her personal computer, she entered a request for personal data of the subscriber who was interested in the "unidentified person". Copied them and passed them to the "partner".
In court, Ermolaeva fully admitted her guilt in committing the crime.
The court sentenced her to a fine of 60 thousand rubles with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to access to legally protected computer information for a period of 2 years.
