Meet the AI that is changing the way you think about the possibilities of technology.

Microsoft recently introduced a new version of its software with the addition of artificial intelligence (AI) capable of performing a variety of tasks. For example, Copilot can summarize oral conversations at online meetings in Teams, present arguments for and against a particular point of view based on oral discussions, and respond to some of your emails. It is even capable of writing computer code.

This fast-paced technology brings us closer to a future where AI makes our lives easier by eliminating boring and repetitive tasks. However, despite its impressive capabilities, we need to be careful when using such large language models (LLMs), including ChatGPT. They require certain skills to be used effectively and safely.

Why Over-reliance on AI Can be a Problem
Despite its apparent intelligence, we cannot blindly trust LLM for accuracy and reliability. It is important to carefully review their findings, making sure that our initial requests are reflected in the responses provided.

This becomes especially critical in situations where we use LLM to fill in gaps in our own knowledge. Here, our lack of knowledge can lead to a situation where we simply cannot determine whether the conclusion is correct.

Using AI to participate in meetings and compile their minutes presents obvious reliability risks. Transcript-based meeting records are still generated in the same way as other LLM text. They are still based on language patterns and probabilities of what was said, so they need to be checked before they can be relied upon.

There is also a verification problem if we use AI to generate computer code. Testing the code with test data is the only reliable method to confirm its functionality. But this does not guarantee that its behavior meets real expectations.

Validation and verification
LLMs like ChatGPT and Copilot are powerful tools that we can all benefit from. But we must be careful not to trust their results blindly.

We are at the beginning of a great revolution based on this technology. AI has endless possibilities, but it needs to be built, tested, and verified. And so far, only humans are capable of this.
