Darkweb forums sell new malware that cybercriminals use primarily to steal gamer accounts on various sites: Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA Origin. Kaspersky Lab specialists told about an interesting sample.

The Trojan, first discovered by researchers in March, was named BloodyStealer. Its main task is to steal confidential information, including cookies, passwords, bank card details, as well as sessions in various applications.

Most of all, this malware loves popular gaming platforms like Steam, Epic Games, EA Origin, GOG Galaxy, etc. All collected credentials are later sold by cybercriminals on forums for cybercriminals.

"It cannot be said that BloodyStealer was originally developed specifically for attacks on gamers, but its use clearly speaks of the interest of the cybercriminal world in the credentials of gamers," explains experts at Kaspersky Lab. "Logs, accounts and even in-game valuables are easy to sell on hacker forums for a decent amount."
BloodyStealer is sold through private channels and only to VIP forum members. You will have to pay $ 10 for the malware (monthly subscription) or $ 40 for a lifetime license.

The vendors also point out that the Trojan has functions to bypass the detection of anti-virus programs. BloodyStealer attacks are not limited to any one country, which is why gamers around the world are at risk. A complete analysis of the malware can be found in the Kaspersky report.
