Myanmar authorities handed over more than 700 suspected telecommunications fraudsters to China, the Global Times newspaper reported on October 9.

Public security agencies in southwest China's Yunnan Province continue to strengthen cooperation with Myanmar's law enforcement agencies.

In recent years, due to increased repression by Chinese public security agencies, criminal groups engaged in telecommunications fraud, which previously hid in Southeast Asian countries, have gradually moved to northern Myanmar, the publication said.

However, thanks to the cooperation of the two countries, Myanmar recently handed over 706 suspected Internet fraudsters to the PRC.

In total, the number of suspects in telecommunications fraud that were transferred to China was 2,317 people.
