The founder of a major Western drug marketplace, Monopoly Market, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute 100 grams of methamphetamine. This volume of powder was actually a control purchase that preceded the site's closure in 2021. Sentencing of Milomir Desnica, a 33-year-old citizen of Serbia and Croatia, is scheduled for February 15, 2024.
According to the prosecutor's office, Desnitsa founded Monopoly in 2019. The site sold opioids, stimulants, psychedelics and prescription drugs, as well as other psychoactive substances. According to the FBI, the market has sold more than $ 18 million worth of drugs in its entire history. Inside the US, buyers received at least 30 kilograms of methamphetamine.
The site was closed during a joint special operation of law enforcement agencies from the United States, Germany and Finland in December 2021. After analyzing the data from the captured servers, the Feds reached the Right Hand. He was arrested in Austria in November 2022, and six months later a large-scale special operation was carried out, during which another 288 people suspected of drug trafficking were detained, including with the help of Monopoly. Desnitsa was later extradited to the United States, where he faces life in prison.
