On October 9, a new HBO documentary will be released, designed to reveal the identity of the creator of bitcoin, hiding under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.
The film, called Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, was directed by Cullen Hoback. His previous work, Q: Into the Storm, exposed the QAnon conspiracy theory common in the United States.
In an interview with Fast Company, Hobak said that he learned about bitcoin before 2017, when he really began to understand the structure of cryptocurrency.
Work on the film took three years, and the "key point" in the investigation of the main mystery of digital gold was Blockstream CEO Adam Back.
"In the film, we make a damn convincing case, and I think the one we're going to make a lot of eyebrows and a lot of controversy. I'm sure people will argue about this no matter how convincing the arguments we have made, and that's okay. This is the nature of this space. We had much more evidence than we were able to include in the film," the director said.
He noted that bitcoin has become mainstream, and Satoshi owns a "gigantic share" of the cryptocurrency. According to estimates, we are talking about 1.1 million BTC, worth about $67 billion.
Satoshi did not do so, but such a possibility still exists, he added.
"Therefore, it is very important to try to understand who is behind this," the director emphasized.
Galaxy Digital's head of research, Alex Thorne, wrote that, according to the film's authors, Satoshi's real identity is Len Sassaman. This theory was presented in 2021 by the founder of the Worlds gaming project and bitcoin supporter Evan Leung Hatch, he recalled.
Sassaman was a well-known cypherpunk and committed suicide in July 2011.
"If it's someone the document identifies, then it should be neutral or positive for the price of bitcoin, given that Len is dead," Thorne predicted.
Politico admitted that the disclosure of Satoshi's identity could cause shockwaves in financial markets and affect the US presidential election. Republican candidate Donald Trump enjoys the support of cryptocurrency supporters, journalists noted.
A page "Who does HBO identify as Satoshi Nakamoto?" has appeared on the decentralized prediction platform Polymarket. Almost half of the users bet on Sassaman. Some even believe that the creator of bitcoin is Craig Wright. Elon Musk is also among the named persons.
Recall that in March, a court in the UK ruled that Craig Wright is not the creator of digital gold.
According to the decision, an Australian entrepreneur is now required to publish a corresponding notice on all its web resources.

Hearing that the forthcoming HBO (wed oct 9) documentary identifies len sassaman as satoshi — there was a good write-up of this theory by @evan_worlds in 2021
if that's who the doc identifies, should be neutral to positive for BTCUSD given that len died in 2013 (RIP)…
