How did a simple teenager manage to bypass the security systems of the British capital?

The National Crime Agency (NCA) arrested a 17-year-old teenager in connection with a cyberattack on the Transport for London (TfL) system, which occurred on September 1. The detention took place in the city of Walsall on September 5 as part of an investigation into an incident that threatened London's transport infrastructure.

The young man is suspected of violating the Computer Abuse Act. He was interrogated by NCA officers and released on bail. The investigation is ongoing, and NCA specialists are working on the incident in conjunction with the National Cyber Security Center and TfL to minimize the consequences and prevent further threats.

The head of the National Cybercrime Unit, Deputy Director of the NCA, Paul Foster, noted that incidents related to attacks on infrastructure can cause serious disruptions to national systems and threaten communities.

Thanks to prompt action, TfL was able to react quickly and launch an investigation. Foster also stressed that the NCA continues to work with partners to prevent such crimes.

As part of the fight against cybercrime, the agency is actively promoting the Cyber Choices initiative, which aims to prevent the illegal use of digital skills.
