All data users are required to immediately report any incidents involving personal information.

Malaysia is introducing a new data leak alert system aimed at responding quickly and preventing the consequences of cybersecurity incidents. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Communications of Malaysia, Theo Ni Ching.

According to the new rules, data users are required to immediately report any cases of leakage of personal information, including hacking threats. Teo Ni Ching explained that this approach will allow you to quickly analyze information about incidents and take measures to prevent further leaks, as well as monitor the current consequences.

The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of maintaining public confidence in the country's data management practices. To do this, Malaysia has launched a large-scale campaign: law enforcement agencies, regulators and various organizations are working together to inform citizens about the new notification system, tighten data handling rules and strengthen control measures.

Teo Ni Ching noted that the development of digitalization inevitably entails an increase in potential threats of technology abuse and an increase in fraud risks. In this regard, it is extremely important to constantly adapt to the changing tactics of intruders.

Malaysia has established a National Fraud Response Center (NSRC) to address the issue in a comprehensive manner. The Center is designed to ensure effective interaction of various stakeholders, including information exchange, coordination of efforts, analysis of the need to improve current legislation and solving the problem of the global nature of fraudulent activities.
