An unknown user lost $55.47 million in the DAI stablecoin on the MakerDAO DeFi platform as a result of a phishing attack. Lookonchain drew attention to this.
The incident was also recorded by the well-known on-chain detective ZachXBT and specialists of the Scam Sniffer platform.
Experts noted that the investor "carelessly" signed an unknown transaction, indicating a phishing address as the owner of the assets.
Probably, realizing the mistake, the whale tried to withdraw funds, but the protocol did not miss the operation due to a confirmed change of ownership.
The attackers almost immediately exchanged 27.5 million DAI for 10,625 ETH.
"When signing a transaction, always double-check it before clicking on confirmation and do not authorize unknown requests," Lookonchain urged.
