The fallout from the Last Pass hack in 2022 appears to be bigger than first thought.

Last year’s hack of Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen’s crypto accounts was linked to a LastPass data breach, according to a complaint filed by U.S. law enforcement.
🗞 In 2024, hackers stole more than $100 million from Larsen’s personal XRP accounts and reportedly laundered the funds through major crypto exchanges, including Binance.

ZachXBT, the investigator who first reported the hack, now claims that Larsen was storing his private keys in Password Manager.

The investigator's findings are based on a legal complaint that does not name Larsen directly but refers to him as "the Victim."

Of the more than $100 million that was stolen, prosecutors were able to freeze $24 million in crypto assets. Last week, investigators received permission to formally seize those funds, Krebs on Security reports.
