What did LokbitSupp lie about and how did he become a witness for the prosecution?

During the high-profile operation Cronos against the LockBit group, law enforcement agencies revealed details about the identity of the main representative of the group – LockbitSupp.

On February 23, the hijacked group's website posted a post with the headline "Who is LockbitSupp?", which states that this person lied about his location, claiming to live in the United States or the Netherlands, and owns a Lamborghini. In fact, according to the authorities, he has a Mercedes.

Publication of special services on the LockBit website

Although the specific identity of LockbitSupp was not disclosed, law enforcement officers are confident in their data: "We know who he is. We know where he lives. We know how much it costs. LockbitSupp has started cooperating with law enforcement agencies," the website says.

Recall that as part of the international operation Kronos, which began on February 19, at least 3 LockBit accomplices were arrested in Poland and Ukraine. The arrests followed the dismantling of LockBit's dark web infrastructure, which is used by the group to threaten its victims and publish stolen data in case of non-payment of ransom. During the operation, at least 200 cryptocurrency accounts were seized and 34 servers were disabled in various countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, France, Switzerland, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

LockBit, which has been operating since 2019, has become the most active ransomware group in the world, with almost 2,300 attacks. The group is known for attacking medical facilities, including Canada's largest children's hospital and the medical system in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
