Updated protection mechanisms make the impossible our new reality.

Microsoft unveiled a number of Windows security innovations at Ignite 2024, underscoring its commitment to protecting the data of its users and organizations. One of the key announcements was the continuation of the Secure Future Initiative (SFI), which aims to create a secure platform for users and developers.

Microsoft has stepped up protection in Windows 11 by introducing features such as Quick Machine Recovery. This technology allows administrators to fix problems on devices remotely, even if the operating system does not boot. The solution will be available to Windows Insider program members in early 2025.

The company also announced the integration of new anti-phishing mechanisms, improved methods for managing user privileges, and tighter control over the installation of applications and drivers. The new Administrator Protection feature allows you to temporarily grant administrator privileges only for a specific task, minimizing the risk of abuse.

The Windows Resiliency initiative introduces several updates, including improvements to identity protection, such as Windows Hello and Personal Data Encryption. These technologies provide secure data encryption and protect against account theft.

In addition, Microsoft is switching to more secure programming languages such as Rust, reducing the likelihood of vulnerabilities. In addition, to improve the security of the ecosystem, the company implements the Safe Deployment Practices policy to minimize possible failures during product updates.

Windows 11, according to Microsoft, has become a more secure system by default thanks to basic hardware requirements such as TPM 2.0 and Credential Guard. The new devices are also equipped with Microsoft Pluton processors, which provide reliable protection against firmware attacks.

New features, including support for hotpatches (Hotpatch) and configuration policy updates (Config Refresh), will allow enterprises to respond faster to threats and minimize system downtime. And the new Zero Trust DNS feature will provide strict control over network connections at the domain name level.

The company said that the results of its efforts reduced the number of security incidents by 62%, and the number of attacks on firmware and identity theft decreased by a third. These measures underscore Microsoft's commitment to making Windows not only a platform for innovation, but also a strong protection for users and businesses in the face of growing cyber threats.
