The activities of an international criminal group that specialized in embezzlement of funds of citizens of two states under the pretext of participating in trading in commodity markets, cryptocurrency markets and the Forex stock market were stopped. This was made possible by the cooperation of the two countries law enforcement agencies and the timely exchange of information between them.
"As part of the joint work of Russian and Belarusian operatives and investigators, about 80 searches were conducted, about 60 people were detained.
In Minsk, searches were conducted in five call centers and at the residential addresses of the group members. Computer equipment, mobile devices, accounting documents were seized, and access to cloud storage was obtained.
On the territory of the Moscow region, police detained one of the alleged organizers of illegal activities and two accomplices. During the searches, more than eight million rubles were seized, as well as about 23 million rubles in foreign currency, about 30 pieces of computer equipment.
In our country, a criminal case initiated on the grounds of a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is under investigation by the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. In Belarus, a criminal case on fraud was initiated by the Investigative Committee. The investigation is carried out within the framework of an international investigative task force.
The results of joint work of Russian and Belarusian operatives on this criminal case were discussed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, General of the Police of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev, at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states held in Minsk last week," said Irina Volk, an official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry.
