The Spanish National Police detained one of the leaders of a group that allegedly carried out over 300 cyber attacks in more than 90 countries. This is stated in a press release from law enforcement agencies.

According to their information, law enforcement officers detained a Venezuelan citizen in Alicante for “connections with the hacktivist group Kelvin Security,” which “carried out numerous attacks on institutions and companies around the world.” The suspect was “the main person responsible for laundering money received from criminal activities,” the police said.

The investigation began in December 2021, when law enforcement officers learned of cyber attacks on the computer systems of the city halls of Getafe and Camas. The investigation soon established that the Kelvin Security group was behind the hacking, which found vulnerabilities in Internet pages, software and servers of institutions and companies to extract information. It is noted that the group sold illegally obtained information.

Over the past three years, it has carried out over 300 cyber attacks.
