Features of the GNOME 45 desktop environment, also known as "Riga", include an improved interface and improved performance. Updates include full-height sidebars in many apps, faster search in the Nautilus file manager, and updated themes for GNOME Shell and Libadwaita.

Kali Linux 2023.4 is available in new builds and deployment options, including ARM64 support on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure platforms. The Kali team has also added support for deploying Kali Linux on Hyper-V using Vagrant. In addition, it is possible to install Kali Linux 2023.4 on Raspberry Pi 5 (using a special image or build the image yourself).
To upgrade to Kali Linux 2023.4, users can use the update commands on their existing system or download new ISO images for installation. Owners of a Windows Subsystem for Linux-based system are encouraged to upgrade to WSL2 for a better experience, including support for graphical applications.
