The country's largest technology centers have pulled the "blanket of hacker attacks" over themselves.

Cybercrime in India has been on the rise for three and a half years, according to a recent report from the Future Cybercrime Research Foundation (FCRF). A detailed analysis showed that the cities of Bangalore and Gurgaon, which are the main centers of the IT industry in India, also become the most massive victims of cyber attacks.

The FCRF has identified 10 districts in India that are most vulnerable to cybercrime. Vulnerability factors include proximity to large cities, insufficient cybersecurity, socio-economic problems, and low digital literacy of the population.

Gurgaon and Bangalore are also among the world's TOP 5 cities attractive to the IT industry, but statistics on cybercrime clearly damaged their reputation.

Gurgaon, a well-known corporate and IT hub, accounts for 8.1% of all cybercrimes in India, which is quite a lot considering the hundreds of cities in the country. Experts attribute the high crime rate to the city's status, which makes it an attractive target for cyber scammers.

At the same time, Bangalore, called the "Silicon Valley of India", has been called an "emerging cybercrime hotspot". The city is home to many local and global IT companies.

Almost half of all cybercrimes in India involve fraud through the local UPI payment system. And in second place is fraud with bank cards and substitution of SIM cards. In general, financially motivated crimes account for 77% of all incidents.

Thus, despite its leading position in the IT sector, India clearly needs to pay increased attention to internal cybersecurity issues, especially in large technology centers such as Bangalore and Gurgaon.
