Feds reveal Iran's massive plan to disrupt the election.

U.S. federal agencies have jointly claimed that Iran is behind a series of cyberattacks aimed at undermining confidence in U.S. democratic institutions.

The statement claims that Iranian hackers were involved in a recent cyberattack on the election campaign of Donald Trump. The agencies note that Iranian activities are becoming increasingly aggressive in the election cycle and include operations to influence the American public, as well as cyber attacks on presidential campaigns.

Iranian cybercriminals tried to gain access to information related to the campaigns of both political parties, using social engineering techniques and other approaches. The activity, including theft and dissemination of information, is aimed at interfering in the US election.

Iran has long tried to use cyber operations to escalate social conflicts and gain access to confidential information about the US election. The current election, where Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are competing, has a special significance for Iran.

The FBI works with victims of cyber attacks and calls on campaign headquarters to strengthen cybersecurity measures. The agencies stressed that they will not allow foreign powers to interfere in the American elections.

The statements came after a cyberattack on Trump's headquarters, which he publicly linked to Iran. Microsoft and Google also reported on attempts by Iranian hackers to attack high-ranking officials in the United States and Israel. On August 16, OpenAI announced that it had removed a number of ChatGPT accounts that were used to create content as part of a covert influence operation allegedly linked to Iran.
