Users of the current Apple system are not afraid of hacker attacks — keep updating.

On December 11, Apple released the iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2 update, which, in addition to many new features, also includes important security fixes that make the Apple-branded system even more secure and reliable.

Below is a list of what the Cupertino company worked on in the latest update. Fortunately, none of the flaws were known to be actively exploited.

  1. Accounts: improved protection of user data from unauthorized access.
  2. AVEVideoEncoder: Fixed a vulnerability that allowed applications to expose device kernel data.
  3. Bluetooth: Fixed keyboard interference that allows attackers to fake keystrokes over Bluetooth.
  4. ExtensionKit: improved protection of user data from unauthorized access.
  5. Locator: Fixed a vulnerability related to reading sensitive location information.
  6. ImageIO: Fixed image processing vulnerabilities that could lead to arbitrary code execution.
  7. Core: Fixed an issue that allowed applications to go outside of their isolated environment.
  8. Private Browsing in Safari: Improved state management to prevent access to private browsing tabs without authentication.
  9. Siri: Improved checks to prevent access to sensitive user data via Siri.
  10. WebKit: Fixed vulnerabilities in web content processing that could lead to arbitrary code execution and denial of service.

This update is an important step by Apple in ensuring the security and privacy of its customers, as well as improving the overall user experience. All owners of iPhone XS and later models, as well as a number of iPad tablets, are recommended to install Update 17.2 as soon as possible to protect their devices from possible malicious influence.
