From the provinces to the head of a state structure - the rise of a man who challenged the whole world.

Western media claim that the Ministry of State Security of China, through the efforts of the new head Chen Ixin, has significantly expanded its activities and has become a powerful tool in conducting cyber attacks and espionage against the United States. In 2 years under the leadership of Ixin, Chinese intelligence has become a serious threat to Western countries.

Chen Yixin, appointed to the post in 2022 at the behest of Xi Jinping, is actively promoting a strategy to combat external and internal threats, mobilizing both public and private entities to collect huge amounts of data. Ixin's policy is aimed at ensuring China's dominance in the global confrontation with the United States, which he himself described as a strategy of "fighting for the initiative."

Under Iksin's leadership, the Ministry of Security has become more open in discussing threats to national security, publishing materials on social media and engaging the public in the fight against espionage. One example of such activity was the recent campaign against perceived threats from foreign companies.

Particularly notable was the Salt Typhoon attack, in which Chinese state hackers hacked into U.S. telecommunications networks and trained Trump and Harris campaigns and senior U.S. officials to access the communication lines. Such actions could seriously undermine the security of the United States, according to experts. The investigation showed that the attack was carried out by a Chinese contractor commissioned by the Chinese special services.

Chen Ixin's appointment reflects Xi Jinping's desire to strengthen his control over security and intelligence. Unlike his predecessors, Chen did not have a narrow specialization in the field of security - he previously held administrative positions in large provinces and was a close aide to Xi Jinping. The appointment of Ixin was due to his high loyalty to the head of state.

In recent years, the Ministry of Security of China has been actively introducing modern technologies and expanding the sphere of influence on internal and external processes. Chen has led a series of searches and investigations into U.S. consulting firms operating in China, adding to foreign investors' concerns about the growing risks of doing business in the country.

The ministry has also launched social campaigns aimed at raising citizens' awareness of espionage activity. The opening of a WeChat account in the summer of 2023 was a breakthrough in the agency's public strategy. In the first post, the ministry called on the Chinese to actively participate in the protection of national interests, forming a "people's defense line." Publications often contain harsh attacks against the United States, accusing Western countries of trying to destabilize China.

It is noteworthy that against the backdrop of such news, the US State Department's Center for Global Engagement, which fights foreign disinformation, may be closed at the end of this year. The Global Engagement Center (GEC) expires on December 23 and will cease to operate without congressional approval.
