Roskomnadzor is fighting for the purity of the Runet.
The Russian segment of the Internet is fully equipped with technical means of countering threats (TSPU) installed on communication nodes as part of the implementation of the law on the sovereign Runet. This was stated by the head of Roskomnadzor Andrey Lipov at the specialized forum "Spectrum". According to him, these tools successfully perform the task of filtering traffic, including blocking prohibited content.
According to him, TSPS successfully cover various communication segments, including mobile and broadband communication nodes, as well as cross-border communication nodes. Andrey Lipov stressed that at the moment the coverage level is 100%, and this result was achieved in August.
The head of the department also noted that the means of TSPU installed on network nodes need constant modernization, especially due to the constant growth in the volume of Internet traffic. To cope with this task, the agency plans to introduce additional equipment.
The situation in the new territories looks more complicated, as communication networks are actively developing there. However, Andrey Lipov confirmed that most of the TSPU equipment has already been installed.
Recall that the law on the sovereign Runet, which came into force on November 1, 2019, provides for the creation of an independent infrastructure to ensure the routing of Internet traffic in case of inability to connect to foreign root servers. Roskomnadzor can centrally manage traffic through the Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center (PSTNC) in case of threats to the functioning of the Internet in Russia, using TSPUS installed on the operators ' communication networks and filtering the traffic passing through them.
