An international plastic card is, in fact, the same plastic card that most people use, only it stores money converted into a certain foreign currency. It is designed to pay for purchases, bills at hotels, restaurants, cafes and withdraw money from ATMs abroad.
You can open only a debit card, that is, in order to use it, you first need to deposit funds into a bank account that you plan to use.
Types of international plastic cards
Banks of our country offer the following types of international plastic cards:

How can I get an international plastic card?
To receive international plastic cards, you need a passport, TIN and foreign currency to be credited to the account.
The average cost of the card is 20 euros, or 20 US dollars, the cost of insuring the card is 100–120 US dollars.
In which countries do they not work
Visa and MasterCard are international payment systems. Regardless of the country of their issue, they must be accepted without restrictions wherever there are Visa and MasterCard payment systems logos. But before traveling, it is worth checking whether the country where you are going to travel is included in one of these payment systems. This information can be clarified at the bank, where international plastic cards are issued.
Problems with payment cards and ways to solve them
What to do if the card is lost
After losing the card, first of all, it is necessary to notify the bank that issued it so that the funds on the card are blocked. In this case, the money spent from the account after notification of the loss of the card will be reimbursed by the bank. If the bank finds out that a fraudulent operation (debiting from the account) occurred after the card was found, but before the bank was notified of this, then the money debited from the account cannot be refunded.
The card was not lost, but money was debited from it without the knowledge of the owner
In this situation, there may be different scenarios for the development of events. For example, an operation to write off money was carried out in one place, and the owner was in another at that time (pure fraud). Or the payment for the same purchase was made twice (in this case, the reason may be not only fraud, but also a technical failure). Or the cashier mistakenly reported an unsuccessful card operation, but in reality the transaction was made.
In all such cases, you must submit a written application to the bank. In this case, it is necessary to accurately determine the period during which the illegal debiting from the card account can be challenged.
In the process of clarifying the circumstances of the case, the bank may require an additional package of documents from the owner. If a card transaction is identified somewhere in Indonesia (provided that the cardholder did not leave his country), such additional documents may be a copy of the passport without a visa and a certificate from the place of work that the employee was not abroad at that time or didn't go on vacation.
If banks cannot identify the culprit themselves, the payment system (Visa, MasterCard) is connected to the case. A bank that considers itself an injured party applies to the appropriate payment system with a request to write off the required amount from the allegedly guilty bank. This amount is debited without proceeding. If the bank, from whose account the specified amount was debited, objects, then it protests the debiting. And in this case, the payment system conducts arbitration and determines the guilty bank.
The process of returning unauthorized debited money can take from several days to several months. At the same time, the option of refusing to return them is not excluded. For example, it is difficult to dispute transactions made through ATMs, especially within the same city. If the fact of deliberate deception of the bank by the client is revealed, the latter bears criminal responsibility.
ATM does not return the card
This can happen due to:
If the phone numbers are not printed on the ATM or are hard to see, call your bank's customer support call center. When receiving the card at the bank, be sure to write down the phone number of the bank that issued the card. This will contribute to the preservation of funds on it.
The card is returned a few days after the message to the bank about the problem with the ATM. To obtain it, you will most likely have to write an application. The amount that was planned to be withdrawn from the card can be obtained at the bank branch, but for this you need to know its number and have a passport or other identity card with you.
ATM does not accept card
Most likely, the card is not supported by the payment system serving this ATM. Before you start using an ATM, you need to check if it has logos of the systems it serves. If they are missing, it is better to find another ATM. If the payment system is supported by an ATM, but the device still does not accept the card, the ATM may be damaged. If another ATM does not accept (“does not see”) the card, then, most likely, it is damaged. In this case, you will have to receive a new card from the bank.
By the way, information on the magnetic stripe of a plastic card can be damaged by a strong electromagnetic field. It comes from mobile phones, tablets, computers, TVs, microwave ovens, etc. So it is better to keep the card away from them if the information is stored on its magnetic stripe, and not on a chip.

Types of international plastic cards
Banks of our country offer the following types of international plastic cards:
1. We have two types of MasterCard:
- Maestro is an entry-level card, and all transactions on it are carried out with mandatory electronic authorization and entering a PIN code, which increases the card's security level. With the card, you can withdraw cash in the international ATM system MasterCard, Cirrus, and the European network of the EU. It also makes it possible to pay for the purchase wherever trading terminals of the Maestro international system and the European EDC system are installed.
- Standard - You cannot shop online. To do this, it is better to use a MasterCard Standard card. This card includes a standard set of functions and differs from Maestro in a higher degree of security. With it, you can book and pay for a hotel, tickets, and even study, withdraw cash from ATMs, make purchases and pay for services. No authorization is required to carry out operations. There are more service outlets that accept Standard cards than Maestro.
2. Visa is of three types:
- Electron - the peculiarity lies in the fact that any operation is carried out only after an electronic check of the card details, the terms of its validity and the sufficiency of funds on the card account. Thanks to this, Visa Electron is considered the most secure card and is the most popular;
- Classic - is accepted for payment in almost all points where there is a Visa logo. With its help, you can pay for purchases on the Internet or by phone. It can be used in both electronic and mechanical payment terminals and ATMs. Using the card, you can make hotel reservations, air tickets and other goods;
- Gold - The holders of this card are provided with a higher level of service than the holders of Visa Electron and Visa Classic. Many shops and restaurants provide certain privileges for Visa Gold holders.

ATM does not return the card
This can happen due to:
- entering the wrong PIN-code three times in a row;
- malfunction of the ATM;
- expiration of the time limit allotted for the client to pick up the card.
Each ATM has a phone number of the bank branch that provides its service support. Call them without leaving the ATM to report the location of the out-of-service ATM. It also makes sense to call your issuing bank with a request to block the card, if you have not been able to contact the bank responsible for the operation and service of the ATM that does not issue the card.
