Instructions: How to buy and sell a Telegram nickname at the Fragment auction

At the end of October, Pavel Durov announced the launch of the Fragment platform for buying and selling Telegram nicknames as part of auctions. You can buy and sell both personal usernames and names of groups and channels. "Durova's Code" published detailed instructions for buying and selling.

Buying a username

First, you need to log in via your Telegram account and Tonkeeper wallet, as transactions are conducted exclusively in the Toncoin cryptocurrency. To buy this cryptocurrency, you need to launch the @wallet Telegram bot. It can be used as a default cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet in the bot will be managed using the /menu command. Then:

• open the wallet in the bot by clicking the “Open Wallet” button;
• go to the bot settings using the /menu command and click on the corresponding button to add it to the attachment menu;
• go to the bot by clicking on the “P2P market” button;
• click "Buy from users";
• set up a search by filters and select the TON cryptocurrency, purchase currency and payment method;
• select an offer (the list is grouped by default from the lowest price for 1 Toncoin indicated by sellers to the highest);
• enter the amount of Toncoin you want to purchase;
• create a deal and wait for the seller's response;
• pay for it using the specified details;
• confirm the transfer;
• wait for payment confirmation and receive Toncoin;
• create a wallet in Tonkeeper in its application;
• transfer Toncoin to Tonkeeper;
• go to Tonkeeper, click “Receive” and copy the address;
• go to the @wallet bot and enter the menu;
• select “My wallet” —> “Withdraw” —> “TON”;
• in response to “Send the address of your TON wallet in a message” send the address;
• send the amount planned for withdrawal;
• go to Fragment (you can log in via Telegram or via the Tonkeeper wallet);
• select a username for purchase;
• click the "Place bid" button, select your bid amount and click "Place a...";

Example of creating a bet

• the site will show the amount with the minimum step (if the last bid was 160,000 TON, and the specified step is 8000 TON, then the minimum that can be offered is 168,000 TON);
• open Tonkeeper, click on the scanner icon in the upper right corner and scan the QR code that appears in the Fragment;

Payment example

• confirm the transaction in the window that opens;
• After the end of the auction, the NFT will be sent to the username wallet in Tonkeeper;

Getting a nickname

• link a new username to Telegram;
• go to Fragment, find the “My Assets” section, click “Assign to Telegram”, select your account, group and channel;
• go to Telegram settings, select the profile edit option and the “Username” section - here you can change the order in which nicknames are displayed or hide them.

During the auction, if the bid is exceeded by a new one, a notification will be sent to Tonkeeper. In Telegram, such notifications can be received if you subscribe to username notifications through a special bot - Fragment Auction Alerts. You should also remember that the balance should be slightly more TON than required for the transaction, since a small commission is taken (0.01 TON). To conduct transactions, you need to use the latest versions of Telegram and Tonkeeper. In the new version of the messenger, all users have received the opportunity to buy collectible public names for profiles and channels .

Selling username

To sell your nickname, you need to go to Fragment and log in via Telegram using the "Connect Telegram" button. Then:

• link your Tonkeeper wallet by clicking on the “Connect TON” button;
• go to the Fragment in the upper right corner of the site to your account and click on the “My usernames” button;

• in the “Non-Collectible Usernames” section, select the username for sale and click the “Place on Auction” button;
• automatically go to the official Fragment Auction Alerts bot;
• agree to the terms by clicking the “Confirm” button;
• go through two-step authentication;
• return to the Fragment website and in the “Auction Your Username” window that opens, make an initial bid of at least 10 TON.

If someone outbids, the user will receive 95% of the highest bid for the week, plus their full amount. If this does not happen, the seller will receive back 95% of their bid minus a 5 TON commission.

At the moment, the most expensive nickname on Fragment is casino. Its cost is 52.5 thousand TON or ₽6.19 million.

Meanwhile, the platform has already sold the first nickname for Telegram. The short nickname @auto was purchased for 900 thousand TON, which at the rate at the time of publication was about $1.4 million. The bid started at 100 thousand TON or about $157 thousand.
