Customers of The Hilb Group Operating Company, LLC (Hilb) received a notification that "suspicious activity" related to a phishing attack was detected in several email accounts of employees. The company's report was reviewed by CyberNews.
According to the notice, the cybersecurity incident at Hilb occurred "for a limited period of time" from December 1, 2022 to January 12, 2023. An investigation conducted by the company together with third-party information security specialists revealed that the personal data of certain customers was stolen, including names and social Security numbers (SSN).
In addition, financial data was disclosed – account or card numbers combined with a security code, an online banking password, or a PIN code. In total, more than 81,539 people were affected by the leak. In response to the incident, the company offered affected individuals monitoring services for financial transactions on the account for a period of 12 months. The company's websites are currently unavailable.
