The investigative unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kursk region investigated a criminal case regarding unlawful access to computer information and obtaining information constituting a trade secret.
The investigation began after representatives of a commercial organization contacted the police with a statement that unknown persons were using protected information about the company’s activities, stored in a special system, to which a limited number of people have access.
As a result of operational search activities, police officers established that a former employee of the organization, currently employed by another company, was involved in illegal actions.
It was proven that the 42-year-old defendant, having the personal data necessary to enter a specialized electronic system, remotely copied from it important commercial documents and information, which he used at his new place of work.
As part of the investigation, complex computer, technical and handwriting examinations were carried out, which confirmed the man’s involvement in illegal actions. After presenting the available evidence, the defendant admitted to the crime.
Criminal case under Art. Art. 183 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is completed, it is sent to the court for consideration and a legal decision.
