Employees of the Spanish Civil Guard conducted an operation, during which they arrested three people for Internet fraud.

Due to the actions of intruders, about 150 thousand users were affected. In total, the victims lost about eight million euros.

On the eve of March 21, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kingdom informs in its press release.

"According to the agents' estimates, a total of 150,000 people were affected, from whom this organization was able to fraudulently extort an amount close to 8 million euros," the agency said in a statement.

According to the data provided, during the pandemic, fraudsters developed a website that imitated official institutions. In particular, it offered administrative services, which are usually provided free of charge.

So, we are talking, for example, about the issuance of registration certificates, criminal offenses, as well as employment, health cards and other services. At the same time, the attackers demanded from 19 to 89 euros for each of them.

After a series of searches in Valdemoro and Valladolid, the police seized approximately 1 million euros from 35 businesses that were used by fraudsters to launder the funds received.

Among other things, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kingdom is currently conducting an investigation against 12 more people due to the facts of macro-fraud through online platforms.
