Employees of the Department for combating the illegal use of information and Communication Technologies of the Primorsky Krai Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia have established the involvement of a 20-year-old employee of one of the cellular communication companies in illegal access to legally protected computer information. The suspect was detained and taken to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Vladivostok for trial.
It is established that a resident of Vladivostok, being an employee of a mobile communication company, used the mobile operator's databases and obtained unauthorized access to legally protected computer information, as well as logged in to a program that provides access to personal data of citizens, which entailed modification and copying of information. Then, using copies of subscribers passports, the suspect registered and sold SIM cards without the participation of citizens. Subsequently, these SIM cards were used for illegal purposes.
On this fact, the investigator of the SU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Vladivostok opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal access to computer information committed by a person using his official position".
Earlier, police officers, together with colleagues from the regional Federal Security Service of Russia, detained three residents of Vladivostok suspected of using technical devices such as GSM gateways and SIM boxes. With the help of special equipment, the attackers committed illegal actions against citizens of the Russian Federation, namely, they illegally gained access to the personal accounts of residents of different regions of Russia on the Public Services portal. A criminal case was opened against Primorye residents under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Attempt on unauthorized access to computer information". Searches were conducted at the places of residence of the suspects, during which 688 SIM cards, system blocks, hard drives, mobile phones, laptops, bank cards of various financial organizations, routers, SIM boxes and SIM banks were seized.
