Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Odintsovo urban district of the Moscow region detained a 28-year-old resident of the Voronezh region. He is suspected of fraud committed on an especially large scale.

"According to preliminary information, a resident of the Odintsovo urban district received a call from unknown persons who introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and the bank's security service. They reported that a loan was taken on her behalf, as a result of which a debt was formed. To solve this problem, the callers convinced the pensioner to apply for several loans in different banks, cash out and transfer the money received to the so-called safe accounts. In addition, the scammers said that unknown persons were trying to re-register ownership of the apartment belonging to her. To prevent this, the woman was advised to sell it as soon as possible, and transfer the proceeds to the account specified by the fraudsters. The elderly woman fulfilled all the conditions and transferred over 31 million rubles, "said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

The investigator of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Odintsovo urban district initiated a criminal case on this fact on the grounds of a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

"During the investigation, it was established that the accounts to which the victim transferred money were registered to residents of the Voronezh region. As a result of the measures taken, the operatives identified and detained one of the suspects. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for him.

Currently, additional measures are being taken to establish all episodes and accomplices in illegal activities," Irina Volk added.
