In Moscow, multiple cases of fraudsters using customer voices to apply for loans or other financial products have been recorded.

Malefactors found a new way to deceive people in Moscow. They began to record the voices of bank customers, and then use them to apply for loans.

According to TASS, referring to Moscow law enforcement officers, fraudsters initially call bank customers and ask questions that require a one-syllable "yes" or"no". Having received the necessary answers, they are used to apply for loans for their victims, taking advantage of new "loopholes" - biometric data.

"Knowing that some banks provide a loan processing service based on biometric data, attackers make calls to bank customers who already have voice recognition service enabled, and ask questions that only need to be answered "yes" or "no". The conversation is recorded, and then the answers are used by fraudsters to apply for loans for their victims, TASS quotes the police statement. Victims learn about getting loans when their card is debited.

The police advise Muscovites to be vigilant in case of suspicious calls, not to transfer their card details to anyone and never, and when calling offering biometric data collection, answer that you will come to the bank branch yourself. To save your savings, you should use several types of protection, such as a code word or confirmation via a contact center. It is even more reliable to set a limit on withdrawals. As soon as you receive notifications about debiting funds, you need to block the card immediately.
