The investigator of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Leningradsky district of Kaliningrad opened a criminal case against a 30-year-old employee of a financial and credit organization suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal access to legally protected computer information, committed out of self-interest, by a person using his official position".
During the preliminary investigation, it was established that in the period from November 2023 to January 2024, the development manager logged in to information databases and obtained access to personal data of individuals. Then he unloaded the received information and transferred it for a monetary reward to a friend-an employee of another financial and credit organization. Thus, the attacker's colleague expanded its customer base. The bonus due as a result of the implementation of the plan was divided between the men.
Illegal activity of the official was revealed by employees of the Regional Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kaliningrad region.
Currently, investigators, in cooperation with operational police officers, are carrying out further measures aimed at establishing additional episodes of illegal activities of the suspect. The criminal investigation continues.
