A 75-year-old local resident applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Nalchik" of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. An elderly woman said that she received a call from an unknown person who introduced herself as a specialist of one of the banks. The stranger informed about the urgent need to update the mobile application of a financial institution, and then handed the phone to her supposedly colleague.

The man, in turn, sent the citizen a link to go and install a certain program. The elderly woman, believing the callers, did what was required. Subsequently, over 3.7 million rubles were stolen from her bank account.

Employees of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Nalchik" during operational search activities identified one of the accomplices and detained him in a rented apartment in Moscow. The attacker was a 26-year-old previously convicted resident of the Murmansk region. He managed to dispose of the stolen funds at his own discretion.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.

The investigation continues.
