The number of victims of IT attackers in the first eight months of this year exceeded 10 thousand people. To prevent the development of negative trends, it is necessary to use new tools for detecting cybercrime. This was stated at a meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov.
The first issue on the agenda of the meeting is countering cybercrime and fraud using information and communication technologies. The second is the suppression of sexual offenses against minors.
Since the majority of illegal acts are committed on the Internet, it was decided to increase the number of employees of the "K" divisions by reallocating staff in other services. Special attention will be paid to the training of personnel.
Ivan Kubrakov instructed to focus efforts on further improving legislation in the field of combating cybercrime and fraud in general, and to actively conduct preventive work, especially with the elderly.
According to the ministry, the task set by the Minister at the beginning of the year to protect elderly citizens from fraudsters is yielding results. During this time, the number of elderly people who suffered from criminal deception has decreased by almost a third. Today, only isolated facts of telephone scams related to false reports about relatives injured in road accidents are recorded, while last year there were almost 900 of them.
