The appeal didn't save Sachkov, but the fight isn't over.

The First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction on Monday rejected the appeal of Ilya Sachkov, founder and CEO of Group-IB, a company specializing in cybersecurity. The court upheld the verdict of the Moscow City Court of July 26, 2023, according to which Sachkov was found guilty of high treason under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment in a high-security colony.

The trial was held behind closed doors, as the materials of the criminal case were classified as "top secret". The judge read out only the introductory and operative parts of the court's ruling, without disclosing the essence of the charge and evidence of Sachkov's guilt.

Sachkov's lawyers said they will continue to challenge the verdict in the cassation instance.

Ilya Sachkov was arrested and imprisoned in a pre-trial detention center in September 2021. According to investigators, the founder of Group-IB passed secret data on cyber threats to foreign intelligence services, thereby harming the interests of Russia. Sachkov himself pleads not guilty.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the sentence to the founder of Group-IB Ilya Sachkov in the case of treason, according to which he was sentenced to 14 years in prison, the press service of the court told RAPSI.

At the end of July last year, the Moscow City Court sentenced Sachkov to 14 years in a strict regime colony with restriction of freedom for 1 year and a fine of 500 thousand rubles.
