Imagine a situation: a person accidentally meets you in social networks. They just want to communicate, exchange interesting information, and just have a good time. But was this meeting really spontaneous and what does sports betting have to do with it? Our volunteer told us why.

1. With the young man struck up just such an acquaintance. In the first week, we talked to him, identified his interests and talked about life. The other person's account looked like a real one, with lots of photos, posts, and real friends.

2. In the second week, communication continued, but the interlocutor already asked for help. Allegedly, a new friend was offered to participate in sports betting. Moreover, you only need to pay if you win. And the person is worried and asks for your opinion — is it worth getting involved?

A new friend even sent a correspondence with a person who offered to earn money on betting. He also doesn't seem to have a fake account, and he was registered a long time ago. The dialogue is quite lively.

3. Our volunteer did not advise getting involved with such bets, but a friend did not listen to him and a few days later happily reported that he had earned a lot of money. Yes, I had to pay a small insurance premium, but it doesn't matter. Then he showed us a few more payments, and at the end of the month he suggested that our volunteer do the same.

The fraudster was literate. He didn't push, didn't rush. And just periodically accurately demonstrated the earned money.

We managed to find out what the scheme is all about. In fact, there are no payouts, the same person is sitting on all accounts. He tries on different roles in advance and plays out correspondence. Moreover, it does this all the time, without sending old screenshots, as ordinary spammers do. he masterfully uses social engineering techniques to approach potential victims.

How can I detect such a fraudster and protect myself?

Very simple. As soon as they start talking to you about questionable ways to earn money via the Internet, click the "block"button. Free cheese only happens in a mousetrap. No one will share the guaranteed profit with a casual acquaintance.

By the way, people usually do not report such deception to the police. Many of them remain convinced that their friend just did not work out. And some people don't believe that the police will help.
