There are situations when you have to stay at home: illness, quarantine, social isolation due to coronavirus, or just bad weather. But life should not freeze - it can go online, at least in part. We offer 10 tips on how to save time, energy and health by receiving financial and other services remotely.

1. Set up auto payments for yourself and loved ones
Older people are used to paying bills at bank offices. But during epidemics, there is no need to be at risk. Connect yourself, your parents, and grandparents to auto payment for housing and communal services, mobile communications and the Internet, taxes and fines.
You can set up many auto payments through the Public Services Portal, personal account or mobile application of your bank, as well as on the websites of service providers.
Even if it crashes, read for how you can fix it.

2. Order everything at home
In order not to go to supermarkets and pet stores, order groceries and food for animals at home. Many chain supermarkets, from economy to luxury, have established delivery of goods.
If you don't go outside, you can do something useful or enjoyable at home. For example, you can cook your favorite dish according to your grandmother's recipe, which is usually not enough time, disassemble the mezzanine or update the interior. Building materials, furniture and household appliances are also brought home.

3. Observe cyber hygiene
Cyber fraudsters often create duplicate websites of well-known online stores and services. Fake addresses can differ from real ones by only one or two characters. On fake websites, criminals use phishing to lure out personal data and card details. Carefully check the addresses of stores and services where you will pay by card or enter personal data. And those that you use constantly, save in bookmarks.
Get a separate debit card for online purchases. And put on it exactly the amount that you are going to spend. Some banks are ready to remotely issue you a regular plastic card and deliver it.
Many banks and electronic payment systems (e-wallets) offer to issue a special virtual card for payments on the Internet. She has requisites, but no physical medium.
Some virtual cards, also called digital cards, can be loaded into a smartphone with the NFC function - contactless payment. In this case, the virtual card is also suitable for offline purchases, as well as transfers and cash withdrawals from ATMs.

4. Transfer money by phone number
When you urgently need to send money to friends or relatives, you can do it, for example, through the Fast Payment System (FPS). FPS allows you to make instant transfers by mobile phone number, even if the sender and recipient have accounts in different banks.
All transfers through the FPS up to $ 1500 per month will become free. If the amount exceeds this limit, banks will be entitled to take a commission of up to 0.5% of the amount of the transfer, but not more than $ 25. However, some banks have already set zero tariffs for all transfers.
You can also make purchases on the Internet through the SBP, if the online store has enabled payment via a QR code. It is safer than paying with a card, because you do not need to enter any details on the site.

5. Apply for loans and deposits remotely
Most large banks have long ago transferred their services to a remote format. Through your personal account or mobile application, you can make a deposit or apply for a loan and receive money directly to the card.
Perhaps it makes sense to get a credit card with a long grace period. It will allow you to use the bank's money and not pay interest for a while. Such a card will help out during a period when income has temporarily decreased.
If your data is in the Unified Biometric System, then you can become a client of other banks without visiting their offices. It is most convenient to choose suitable offers through the Unified Biometric System website.

6. Check your credit history
If you urgently need money and you are going to get a loan or loan, first study your credit history. Through the Portal of Public Services, you can find out in which credit history bureaus it is stored. And then, just as remotely, request reports.
Credit reports are issued free of charge twice a year. It is useful to order them periodically to make sure that your credit history is in order.

7. Convert money without exchangers
During a period of financial instability, you should not rush to buy or sell a currency just in order to benefit from rate fluctuations. Even professionals are not always able to predict its movement. Inexperienced people are much more likely to lose money than to earn.
But if the purchase cannot be postponed, it is not necessary to go to the exchangers. Cash can also be a carrier of infection. Banks, as a rule, allow opening foreign currency accounts and carrying out conversion through a personal account or a mobile application. Plus, exchange rates are usually more profitable online than at bank offices.

8. Buy insurance online
Many popular types of insurance, for example, a motor third party liability insurance policy (MTPL), can be obtained from the comfort of your home - on the websites of insurance companies. Moreover the cost of the policy can be calculated in advance.
Keep in mind that only insurers themselves have the right to sell insurance remotely. If you suddenly see that an insurance agent or broker is offering a profitable online policy, it is illegal. Most likely, you are faced with scammers.

9. Optimize your budget
Forced retreat can be used to clean up your finances. Analyze your expenses for two to three months: categorize them to understand what you are spending the most on. Evaluate what optional expenses you can refuse - for a while or forever.
Think about your long-term goals and come up with a financial plan. It may have to be postponed for some time. But having clear guidelines is always helpful.

10. Boost your financial literacy
Many educational portals, libraries, even video services offer free or low-cost access to their resources. Use this opportunity not only for fun, but also for learning. For example, to learn something new in the professional field and increase your value as a specialist.
And financial literacy skills will be useful to absolutely everyone. Read our articles on, say, financial planning and investing money. Or take part in free webinars for private investors or entrepreneurs. Difficult times will pass, and knowledge will remain with you.
