Today there are many ways to find out a user's password, however, there is always a risk of banal brute-force - especially if you do not have additional tools to protect against unauthorized access to your computer. But Windows 10 provides tools to buy time, or even ward off an attacker altogether.

To do this, open the "Group Policy Editor" (Win + R; gpedit.msc), then go to "Computer Configuration" -> "Windows Configuration" -> "Security Settings" -> "Account Policies" -> "Policy account blocking ".

This section will contain three parameters: account blocking threshold - the limit of attempts to enter a password; account blocking duration - the time in minutes for which the account will be blocked after exceeding the limit of attempts; time until the lockout counter is reset — the time in minutes before the number of unsuccessful password entry attempts is reset.
