The habit of continuing education is an ongoing, voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for personal and professional reasons. For many reasons, continuing education is no longer a choice, but a necessity, and in this article we will try to understand why.Train yourself for lifelong learning. The most valuable asset you will ever have is your intelligence and what you invest in it.
Brian Tracy
We go to school to get an education and, with a few exceptions, it helps us better understand the dynamics of the world in which we live. Then we can go to university, finish it, which will help to make a living.
At school, we read a lot and do our homework. There is an element of play and the use of creative thinking, but unfortunately, a lot comes down to memorization or even cramming.
Despite the criticism of the modern school, it is necessary even in this form: it helps to assimilate knowledge, and also to socialize. However, in order to become a truly developed person, you need to set higher standards for yourself. Indeed, both at school and at the university, most of the pupils and students do only what is required and no more.
Many of us do the minimum we can. We seem to know quite well what we do for a living, but not more. What's the problem? It is that most people do not want to develop after graduation. It seems that we have completed our task and now all that should be done is to work monotonously, climbing the career ladder. And if earlier it was normal, now a lot has changed.
Continuing education
In his books, Tony Robbins calls for one very important commitment (abbreviation CANI): to improve every day of your life in all areas - health, finance, business, thinking, relationships, career, etc.Higher education is a necessary minimum. But you need more to succeed. And this is a lifelong process. Only in this way will we get the opportunities we need to create a happy and fulfilling future for ourselves and our families.
The CANI commitment means that you become committed to achieving mastery in your life as well as caring for emotional well-being. This means that you must improve at least a little in one area every day. For example, when learning a foreign language for carding, this means learning 5 words a day or one rule.
To do this, you need to spend time looking for new information, ideas, knowledge, skills and strategies that will help you gain an edge over others who are fighting the same career and business goals. In addition, you need to spend time developing new skills, behaviors, and beliefs that contribute to whatever you learn to help put that knowledge into practice.
The key to CANI is to devote yourself to learning skills that are timeless and that can be applied immediately, that is, move your life forward every day. Whether it means reading books in your chosen field, enrolling in additional courses, hiring a coach or mentor, it basically boils down to making learning and self-education a priority in your life.
When you prioritize lifelong learning, it naturally helps to increase your ability to solve problems, think creatively and critically. It helps to increase the depth and breadth of your knowledge and experience, which will subsequently help you gain key insights and career opportunities.
There is an interesting pattern: the more you know and learn, the more clearly you understand that you need to know and learn more. Thus, you gradually begin to gain momentum. And even if you land your dream job, you understand that this does not replace the obligation of continuing education.
The laws of lifelong learning
When it comes to lifelong learning, there are three basic laws that govern this practice and help you optimize your life and thinking.Practice law
It says that as you continue to practice and work on developing key skills, you will subsequently reduce the time it takes to complete certain tasks, which will increase your productivity level.
In other words, the better you do a certain job, the more of that work you can get done in a shorter period of time. Likewise, the higher the skill level, the higher the quality of the work you can do.
Knowledge Collection Act
The more knowledge you gain, the greater the level of understanding you have on a particular subject and, therefore, the more information you can get on this subject based on your existing knowledge and experience.
In other words, the more knowledge you gather about something, the easier it is for you to recognize patterns and opportunities that you can use to your advantage.
With a lot of knowledge, the ability to know what to do in different conditions and circumstances arises. Thus, this understanding can provide you with relevant ideas and insights to help you achieve what you want.
The law of improvement
A gradual improvement leads to small changes, but over time, small changes lead to more significant changes.
Thus, the small improvements and changes you make today can help you achieve long-term rewards and success.
It is difficult to accustom yourself to continuous learning because the results will not come soon. Therefore, it is important to remind yourself every day of what this is all about. After a while, you will see that the effort was not in vain.
Thinking of a person who wants to develop a habit
To develop a lifelong learning habit, it's important to change your mindset. Any change should start with a change in the way you think and perceive the learning process.Continuing education requires a lot of curiosity.
To do this, you need to ask questions with curiosity and study the world around you with curiosity. In this way, you create a mentality that makes you always want to know more. Such a person strives for new ideas, challenges and experiences. He longs for it all because his goal is to learn, grow and develop.
To develop such thinking in oneself, one must first of all not rush to jump to conclusions or make assumptions. The world is full of opportunities and the only way to reach your full potential is to be open to everything new and willing to explore everything.
Essential skills for development
Of course, the skills you choose will depend on your goals and objectives, but there are some that are worth developing anyway.Information management. You will encounter a tremendous amount of information while learning. You need to learn how to capture and organize it in an effective way. Use a diary or mental maps.

Tracking progress. Key skill. As we said, with continuous learning, you will improve slowly enough and you may lose motivation. Therefore, you simply need to set yourself small goals that can be realized. Draw graphs of your accomplishments and you can keep your enthusiasm.
To make continuing education a habit, ask yourself the following questions every night:
- What specifically did I do today in terms of training?
- What valuable knowledge did I gain today?
- How can I put this knowledge into practice in the coming week?
- What is my progress?
- How have I applied existing knowledge today?
- What mistakes in thinking have I made?
- How did I react to people, events and circumstances?
- What have I learned about myself and people?
- What can I improve tomorrow to be a little better?
We wish you good luck!
