Imagine that you are working at a computer, and at this time an SMS comes to your phone. To read it and enter a response message, you have to look up from your computer and pick up your phone (or tablet). If the correspondence is delayed, you are forced to switch between a computer and a mobile device every now and then.

But what if you could answer phone messages right from your computer window? Wouldn't it be great to completely control your smartphone from this window by connecting it to your computer via a USB cable? Well, we are happy to announce that this fantasy has already become a reality! It was brought to life by developer Koushik Dutta in his Vysor application. This application runs in the Chrome web browser, which means it can be used on almost any desktop operating system.

Step 1. Install ADB on your computer (Windows only)

If you are using Windows, you will need to install the ADB drivers. (Mac users can skip to the next step). Download the appropriate file from this link and follow the prompts to install the drivers.

Step 2. Enable USB debugging on your Android device

Connect your phone (or tablet) to your computer using a USB cable and go to Settings on your Android device. Find Developer Options in the menu. If you do not see such an item, it means that this option is not active for you and you will have to activate it first. Next, enable the option "USB debugging" and click "OK".

After that, a pop-up window will appear asking you to enable ADB debugging on your device. Check the "Always allow from this computer" option and click "OK".

Step 5. Control your Android device from your computer

Now the contents of the screen of your Android device will be displayed on the computer, and you can navigate the menu of your smartphone or tablet using a computer mouse or keyboard. The ESC shortcut key functions as the Back button, the F1 key is used to access the device menus, and the Home key is used to quickly access the home screen. On a MacBook, other shortcuts may be used instead of the named shortcut keys.

If you open an application in landscape orientation, the window on your computer will automatically rotate to fit the screen. Likewise, if you want to change the size of the window - just "drag" one of the corners, and the scale of the contents of the window will immediately increase or decrease in accordance with the new size.

Step 6. Control your Android device from your computer together with other people

Note: This feature now only works in the Pro version. Pricing for Vysor versions can be viewed here. If you need to transfer control of your Android device to another person (for example, to troubleshoot problems), simply connect your phone to your computer, launch Vysor as usual, and click on the “Share” button in the main Vysor menu.
