Hello, running in the shadows! Hello, random subscriber. Some more relief. A skill that is useful for every self-respecting darkman or just a person who does not want to be deceived. Is it possible to detect deception by voice, and if so, how?

Go:

Voice
is even more important than words to characterize human speech. Pauses are particularly common indicators of deception here. Pauses can be very long or very frequent. Hesitation before words, especially if it occurs while answering a question, always leads to doubts and suspicions.

Short pauses in the process of speech itself are also suspicious, if they occur quite often. Signs of lying can also be speech errors: interjections, for example, "um", "well" and "uh"; repetitions, for example, " I, I, I mean that I..."; extra syllables, for example,"I really liked it". These vocal signs of lying – speech errors and pauses-can occur for two reasons.

First, the liar did not think out the direction of the behavior in advance. If they didn't expect to lie, or were prepared for it, but didn't anticipate a specific question, they may delay and stall for time, trying to focus and collect their thoughts, or make speech mistakes.

Second reason: this can also happen when the liar is well prepared. However, if he is very afraid of exposure, in this case, he may stumble and even forget the already considered line of behavior. And for an ill-prepared liar, the fear of exposure is a disaster. When he hears how dubious his lie sounds, he becomes even more afraid of being caught, as a result of which the number of pauses and speech errors increases.

The tone of voice can also betray lies. In any case, increasing the pitch is an obvious sign of emotion. If a person feels angry, anxious, or upset, the pitch of their voice increases: this was shown by about 70% of experiments.

In addition, the speed and volume of speech also reveal human emotions: louder and faster speech is characteristic of a person in anger or fear, and quieter and slower speech is characteristic of a person in despondency and sadness.

It's hard to hide these emotional voice changes. If they lie mainly about the feelings that a person feels directly at the moment of uttering a lie, then there is a high chance that information will leak. If the purpose of deception is to hide fear or anger, the voice will become higher and louder, and the speed of speech may be faster.

Fear of exposure is also bound to affect your voice. Paul Ekman conducted more than one study with students and found that when cheating, the pitch of the voice increases. It is quite likely – from fear of exposure (this is how the experience was organized). Therefore, it cannot be assumed that raising the tone of voice is an unambiguous and definite indicator of deception. This is a sign of fear or anger, and probably arousal.

For today, in short, everything, cyberstalkers. Stay tuned.
