Was the ransom paid or did the data still get online?

The ALPHV/BlackCat ransomware group announced the hacking of the network of the medical company Henry Schein. According to the attackers, they managed to steal more than 35 TB of data, including sensitive data on the salaries of employees and shareholders.

Henry Schein is a healthcare solution provider and Fortune 500 company with operations and branches in 32 countries worldwide and revenue of more than $12 billion in 2022. On October 15, the company announced that it was forced to disable some systems to localize the cyber attack. The shutdown of the systems led to failures in the production and distribution departments.

Henry Schein One's medical practice management software was not affected by the attack, but the company informed law enforcement about the incident and hired cybersecurity experts to investigate and analyze the threat.

A week after the cyberattack was reported, the health care provider encouraged customers to place orders through representatives at Henry Schein or through special phone numbers.

Almost 2 weeks after the attack, the BlackCat/ALPHV group added Henry Schein to its dark web leak site, claiming that cybercriminals hacked into the company's network and stole 35 TB of sensitive files. The group said it encrypted the firm's devices again just as Henry Schein was almost done restoring all of its systems, as ongoing negotiations broke down. It is worth noting that the entry about the hacking of Henry Schein on the BlackCat website was deleted, which indicates that the company has resumed negotiations or paid a ransom.
