The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk reported on the detention of members of a hacker group who illegally gained access to corporate information of a large IT company.

"According to reports, the attackers illegally copied and distributed legally protected information that is a commercial secret of one of the largest Russian IT companies," Volk wrote in her Telegram channel on Thursday.

According to her, hackers gained unauthorized access to the organization's database, copied over 600 thousand records containing personal data of service employees, and then placed them in the shadow segment of the Internet for the purpose of selling them.

In turn, Yulia Ivanova, a representative of the Moscow Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, said that a criminal case is being investigated against the detainees on the grounds of crimes under Part 3 of Article 183 (illegal receipt and disclosure of information constituting a commercial secret) and Part 1 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code (illegal access to computer information).

"In the course of a well-coordinated work of investigators of the Moscow Investigative Committee of Russia and operational officers of the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, men born in 1987, 1989 and 1999 were identified and detained. Investigative actions were carried out with them, charges were brought and a preventive measure was chosen, " Ivanova said.

Volk, in turn, added that two of the suspects were detained in Rostov-on-Don and Sochi, and computer system blocks, external electronic data carriers, mobile phones and SIM cards, as well as other items of evidentiary value were seized at their residential addresses.
