The police will have to find out who the bruteforce geniuses worked for.

Three people suspected of hacking more than 100 million emails and Instagram accounts* around the world have been detained in Ukraine.

Attackers aged 20 to 40 years used specialized software for brute-force password selection (brute-force). The cybercriminals sold the obtained access to their accounts on the darknet to various scammers who used the hacked accounts to send messages to the victims contacts asking them to transfer money under false pretexts.

According to the police, the criminal group operated in various regions of Ukraine and had an organized structure, within which the leader distributed tasks among the participants. During the operation, 7 searches were conducted in several cities, as a result of which 70 computers and other IT equipment, 14 mobile phones, bank cards and cash (including more than $3,000) were seized.
