Updating the address of the GALA token contract opened a loophole for hackers using old tokens to withdraw liquidity from crypto exchanges.

According to a crypto security specialist under the pseudonym X-explore, trading platforms are at risk of placing fictitious deposits based on OLD GALA tokens.

The cryptoexpert noticed that the recent update of the project led to the creation of a new contract address for GALA tokens, and now two tokens with the same ticker are in circulation at once. At the same time, the price ratio between the "old GALA" and "new GALA" is at the level of 1:12.

Hackers noticed a nuance and successfully took advantage of it on September 6, taking "all new GALA" from the accounts of a small Mongolian crypto platform Coinhub through false replenishment of the balance. By the standards of the crypto industry, the losses of the Coinhub exchange are insignificant, a little less than 3 ETH.

However, the expert draws the attention of the crypto community to the fact that trial hacker attacks on crypto exchanges and fake deposits in OLD GALA have been recorded since July 27, and it is unclear how many other cryptocurrency platforms have been subjected to this attack.
