The football club was a victim of BEC fraud.
This summer, Romanian footballer Florinel Coman signed a contract with Qatari club Al-Gharafa. In accordance with the agreements, the Qatari team committed to pay the Romanian club FCSB the amount of 5.25 million euros. However, according to FCSB owner Gigi Bekali, the club has not yet received this money, and the situation has taken an unexpected turn.
According to Bekali, Qatari representatives reported that they were victims of hackers who hacked their email and redirected the payment to the wrong account. For this reason, the money intended for the transfer of Coman ended up in another country, possibly in Vietnam.
Due to the violation of payment deadlines, which were supposed to be completed before July 31, the FKSB now expects compensation in the amount of 6.25 million euros, including a fine for delay. Bekali has already filed a complaint with FIFA, demanding full payment, and said that he does not intend to wait for the results of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Florinel Coman has already proved himself on the field in a new team. In his first match for Al-Gharafa, against Apollon Limassol of Cyprus on 31 July, Coman scored from a free kick. The match ended with the score 1:1.
Koman's contract with Al-Gharafa runs until June 2027, with an option to extend it for another year.
